Smith, Gildea & Schmidt Associate Lauren Dodrill Benjamin Named to Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars List

Smith, Gildea & Schmidt, LLC (SGS) is pleased to announce that associate attorney Lauren Dodrill Benjamin has been selected by Super Lawyers magazine as one of Maryland’s “Rising Stars” in the field of law for 2015. Benjamin, one of three associates at SGS to be named to the Rising Stars list, had previously been named a Rising Star in 2013 and 2014.Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Rising Stars must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. The objective of Super Lawyers is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel.

We’re lucky to have such a great group of top young lawyers like Lauren here at SGS.”Benjamin joined SGS in February 2011. Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation, including personal injury, product liability, medical malpractice, and business litigation. She is a cum laude graduate of Franklin & Marshall College where she was a member of the Women’s Basketball Team. Benjamin attended the University of Baltimore School of Law, graduating cum laude with a concentration in Litigation & Advocacy. During law school, she was the Assistant Recent Developments Editor of the University of Baltimore Law Forum and a Rule 16 student attorney in the Civil Advocacy Clinic where she had the opportunity to represent low-income clients in housing and employment disputes.

After graduating from the University of Baltimore School of Law, Benjamin served as the Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Judith C. Ensor in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and she is a member of the Maryland State and Baltimore County Bar Associations.In addition to her law practice, Benjamin is an active member of the community, serving on the Alumnae Board of her high school alma mater, Roland Park Country School, and she is a co-organizer of the Maryland Moot Court Invitational Tournament for high school students throughout Maryland. She also volunteered on the 2010 and 2014 Baltimore County Sitting Judges Campaign.
