Law Clerk at Smith, Gildea & Schmidt Beats Out Teams from
Harvard, NYU, Cornell and More
Smith, Gildea & Schmidt is pleased to announce Christopher W. Corey received high honors at the Mardi Gras sports Law Invitational Competition at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. Together with teammate, Jake Schaller, Corey beat out 34 other teams to tie for “Best Petitioners’ Brief.”
Corey, a third-year student at the University of Maryland School of Law, currently serves as Law Clerk for Towson-based law firm, Smith Gildea & Schmidt. After his graduation in May and pending successful completion of the Maryland Bar Exam, Corey is slated to sign on as an Associate with the firm, focusing on land use and real estate law.
Each year, Tulane Moot Court Board, in conjunction with the Tulane Sports Lawyers’ Journal, hosts the Mardi Gras Sports Law Invitational. The event is an appellate competition focusing on sports-law related topics.
The competition draws law students from some of the best law schools and moot court programs across the country and Mr. Corey’s work beat out teams from such top-tier law schools as Harvard, George Washington University, Cornell, NYU, UCLA, Emory University, and more.

A native of Cockeysville, Mr. Corey graduated from Louisiana State University in 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Finance. He is currently ranked in the top ten percent of his class at the University of Maryland School of Law and has served as Law Clerk for Smith, Gildea & Schmidt since January of 2011.
