Michael Paul Smith

Michael Paul Smith is an active trial lawyer and member of the Maryland Bar since 1992. His practice concentrates on areas of complex civil litigation, including personal injury, product liability, medical malpractice, and business litigation. He also has numerous business clients to whom he provides business advice. These business clients value his litigation experience combined with his understanding of economics and business matters.

Throughout his time in law school, Michael Paul Smith obtained valuable trial experience serving as a law clerk and court clerk to Judge Joseph F. Murphy (1988-1992).

Outside of his law practice, Mr. Smith is active in several charitable and community organizations. He serves as the Treasurer of the Dissenter's Law Club and has served on the board for the Maryland Catholic Conference, the Martin J. Smith Foundation, and Best Buddies.

Mr. Smith has been instrumental in numerous political campaigns. He successfully managed his father’s 2002 race for Baltimore County Executive and re-election in the 2006 and was a close advisor on the 2010 County Executive race and four of the successful Baltimore County Council candidates. Mr. Smith has also advised many current Delegates and County Council Members with respect to their campaigns. He also has been a key adviser to every Sitting Judges campaign in Baltimore County since 2001.


Michael helped me during a very difficult time in my life. He helped me sell a business and start up a new one that has now surpassed the old one in every possible way. Michael always "had my back". Almost 10 years later, I call him anytime I need advice or direction, I can ALWAYS count on him!
